We get hundreds of questions every month. Many repeat, so here are the common ones with short answers and links if you want more detail.
- What size system do I need?
- Will it run my AC?
- How long will the battery last?
- Is solar still worth it after net billing?
1. What size solar system do I need?
It depends on your appliances and usage, not your house size. Use the load calculator or our guide on what size inverter you need.
2. Can solar run my AC?
Yes, during the day, with a properly sized system. At night it needs a large battery. See running an inverter AC on solar.
3. Do I need a battery?
Only if you need backup during load shedding or want to use solar at night. Many homes start without one and add later. Read panels only or with a battery.
4. Lithium or tubular?
For daily solar use, lithium usually works out better over its life. Tubular is cheaper upfront and fine for occasional backup.
5. How long do panels last?
Good panels keep working well past 25 years, losing a small amount of power each year.
6. How long does an inverter last?
Commonly 10 years or more with good ventilation, proper protection and sensible use.
7. Is solar still worth it after net billing?
Yes for most homes, especially if you use most of your solar yourself during the day. See our worked example.
8. Does solar work in winter or fog?
Yes, but output is lower because days are shorter and smog blocks light. More in solar output in winter.
9. How often should I clean the panels?
Every one to two weeks in dusty months, early morning, with plain water and a soft brush.
10. Will my system work during load shedding?
With a hybrid or off-grid inverter, yes. An on-grid inverter switches off when the grid goes.
11. Which way should panels face?
South, at roughly 20 to 33 degrees depending on your city.
12. Can I add more panels later?
Often yes, if your inverter has spare PV input capacity and the strings are designed for it. Check before buying.
13. Can I add a second inverter later?
If the model supports parallel operation. See our parallel inverter guide.
14. How do I know if an inverter is genuine?
Buy from authorised dealers, check serial numbers and warranty registration. Our fake inverter guide lists the signs.
15. Where can I see Infinix inverters?
The full range is on our product page, from 1.2kW for small homes up to large commercial units.
